PHOTOCATALYSIS<\/strong><\/p>\n The technology used in the devices is photocatalysis, the natural phenomenon in which a substance, called a photocatalyst, through the action of light (natural or artificial) changes the rate of a chemical reaction. Traditional applications use photocatalysts based on titanium dioxide (TiO2), which needs to be exposed to UV light to be activated. A new WO3-based photocatalyst was then developed to significantly increase the effectiveness of photocatalysis and eliminate the problem of using UV light.<\/p>\n PATENTED TECHNOLOGY<\/strong><\/p>\n After testing devices with photocatalytic technology on viruses, bacteria, VOCs, spores, molds, and allergens, the new photocatalytic filter was patented and tested<\/a> on the infectious virus Covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2) by the Viral Pathogenesis and Biosafety Unit of San Raffaele Hospital in Milan by the team led by Dr. Elisa Vicenzi. The results were also the subject of scientific publication in the \u201cJournal of Nanotechnologies and Nanomaterial<\/a>\u201d.
