Indoor air quality, generally referred to as IAQ ("Indoor Air Quality"), directly or indirectly plays a major role in people's well-being by representing one of the main determinants of health.
PHOTOCATALYSIS
The technology used in the devices is photocatalysis, the natural phenomenon in which a substance, called a photocatalyst, through the action of light (natural or artificial) changes the rate of a chemical reaction. Traditional applications use photocatalysts based on titanium dioxide (TiO2), which needs to be exposed to UV light to be activated. A new WO3-based photocatalyst was then developed to significantly increase the effectiveness of photocatalysis and eliminate the problem of using UV light.
PATENTED TECHNOLOGY
After testing devices with photocatalytic technology on viruses, bacteria, VOCs, spores, molds, and allergens, the new photocatalytic filter was patented and
tested on the infectious virus Covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2) by the Viral Pathogenesis and Biosafety Unit of San Raffaele Hospital in Milan by the team led by Dr. Elisa Vicenzi. The results were also the subject of scientific publication in the “
Journal of Nanotechnologies and Nanomaterial”. The wide range of sanitizers-all of which are equipped with the photocatalytic filter and can be modulated for different square footage-lends itself to a wide variety of applications, including schools, offices, meeting rooms, waiting rooms, restaurants, hotels, cinemas and theaters, health clubs, transportation, and many other enclosed places.
